There are separate benches for the Chacham and the rabbis in both synagogues. Before the war rabbis were sitting on both sides of the Tebah (left picture; the small synagogue on the right picture is post-war).

Knocking

We have the mingah (custom) to knock three times on the door of the Snoga before we open it out of kawod (respect) for the Shechinah (Devine presence).
