Minchah for RechalimThis page describes the Minchah service for Pesach (fist and last days), Shavuot and Sukkot (first days, Shemini Atzeret & Simchat Torah). All are standing during Kaddish, Avelim do not say Kaddish on Yom Tov. For simplicity of this page, the detailed descriptions of the actions during Torah reading are not shown here. [2] Congregants, Chazzan repeats and continues with the megila. [3] Both Megilot are read by two Chazzanim or more, line by line. [4] Chazzan reads Azharot standing, Rut sitting. [6] Afternoon to morning, see SHB page 173note Ƒ. [7] See Shulchan Aruch קכ”ה siman א and Rema end siman ב. Minchah there is no chazara, thus all together with Chazzan. [8] Avelim (mourners) do not say Kaddish on Festivals and Shabbat [9] Last day = 8th day Pesach, 2nd day Shavuot & Simchat Tora. This Kaddish is called the “Stuipen Kaddish”, which Lex Vega (AAV) translated to “Convulsion Kaddish”. There may be two reasons for this name. Convulsions are jerking movements. This refers to the beginning of each melody line, which consists of adjacent notes in quick succession. Another explanation is that this is the last Kaddish of the Yom Tov, so the “convulsions” of the Yom Tov. |
