Kohanim take off shoes (with laces) and their hands are washed by Levi’im or in their absence, by Bechorim (eldest) between the Kedushah and Retse. At Retse they take their place in front of, and facing the Heichal. When the Chazzan reads “Ha’El hatov”, they cover their head with the Tallith.
