Special Shabbatot

Reading of the Shirah and the Ten Commandments by the Chacham or Dayan or Rabbi.
Hashkabah (memorial-prayer) for the Auto Da Fe: Shabbat Chol haMoed Pesach, Shabbat Divré & Shabbat Tesuvah.
Three Festive Shabbatot with special melodies: Shabbat Hagadol (שבת הגדול), Shabbat Nachamu (שבת נחמו) and Shabbat Bershit (שבת בראשית).

The three weeks:

The Haftarot in the three weeks between 17 Tammuz  and 9 Av have a special melody:

Haftarah Divre Yirmiyahu
Haftarah Shym’u: This hafata is read even if it is Rosh Chodesh, In this case, the first and last sentence of the haftara of Shabbat Rosh Chodes, השמים כסאי, are recited by the community and repeated by the chazzan.
Haftarah Shabbat Chazon  
Article from the former samaas, S. Mendes Coutinho, published in the first issue of the magazine “Habinjan”. It describes the ceremony on Shabbat Nachamu, the annual  commemoration of the inauguration of the Snoge in 1675 (in Dutch).

 

Kingsday and Yom haAtzmaut:

On Shabbat “kingsday” (birthday of the king) or on the Shabbat thereafter and on the Shabbat after Yom haAtzmaut, special Mizmorim (psalms) are recited, see details (in Dutch). See below the text about Kingsday in the old manuscript of Brandon from 1866, copied by A. Cardozo (BC).
